Billy the Deer Dog

937450753_WiYve-X2.jpg

Uncle Ordie Watts of Monticello, Arkansas did an unusual thing back in the 1970's. He had a young billy goat that he put in the pen with his deer dogs. The goat started thinking he was a dog. He would try to bark and he would run with the other dogs through the woods to flesh out the deer. Ordie painted "GOAT" on both sides of "Billy" to make sure he didn't get shot. The story of this was published in the Arkansas Gazette Newspaper.

Two Stories

O.A. Watts from Monticello, Arkansas and his mule. Here are two stories told by two Uncles - Ordie and Carl Watts. I had heard about my Grandfather's brother "Joe" shooting a Mule thinking it was a deer in his corn patch. They set the record straight for me.
